The Hunger Games

Its 4:30pm and all the Mackenzies are sitting in a packed Screen 8 at Guildford Odeon eagerly anticipating The Hunger Games.   Hannah has been saying that we should go and watch the film for a few days so there we were along with a mixed group of other cinema goers.

Two and a half hours later we  left the cinema all having enjoyed a really good film which we would recommend for almost any audience.   The film seemed to work on a number of levels and the lead role was played with real flare.

A cold Morning at Broadwater

Off to Guildford Rugby Club with Sam and Sarah. Guildford Mini's were hosting two touring teams - Hitchin and Braintree. Both of the other clubs seemed to be travelling in fancy dress; Hitchin were on their HEaven and Hell Tour - lots of Vicars, Devils, Nuns etc and Braintree were Pirates. All very colourful and imaginative.

Given how nice Friday was Saturday seemed freezing. Guildford Un10s had a good turn out and managed to filed two teams - both were a mixture of As, Bs and Cs; so a good opportunity to play with different boys.

First game against Hitchin Guildford won 5-2 but Sam was studded almost as soon as he went on so not a good start :(

After a Hot Chocolate and a bit of a chat Sam started the second game - against Braintree - in a much better frame of mind. Guildford eventually won 7-0 with Sam scoring three tries. The second of these was Rugby at its best, with Paul D running free and then passing to Sam as he was about to be tackled leaving Sam with a 40 yard run to the line (but still needing to beat a couple of players). Sam's third effort was one of his favourite "steals".

After that to the bar and everyone was in a good mood with Guildford boyed by winning two games and the tourists up for a day of fun.
